01

How group activities are funded.

Group activities are usually funded from your Core Supports budget, under Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation. The cost of the support workers is shared between the people in the group, so group support usually costs less per hour than one-to-one support.

Activity costs – like entry tickets, materials, food and drinks – are generally paid by you. We let you know about any costs before an activity.

02

Why join a group?

  • Meet people with similar interests and make friends
  • Build a regular routine to look forward to
  • Practise everyday skills in a real setting
  • Try new activities with support close by
  • Give your family or carers a break

Not sure where to start?

Tell us what you need. We’ll explain your options for group activities and check what your NDIS plan can cover.

03

Group activities or one-to-one support?

Groups are great for social connection and shared activities. If you want support built around your own plans – like visiting friends, joining a local club or learning to catch the train – social community access gives you one-to-one support. Many people use both.

NDIS funding

How it’s funded.

Group activities may be funded from the Core Supports budget in your NDIS plan, under Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation, when they relate to your goals. We’ll check your plan with you before you join.
