In short

Your NDIS plan has a reassessment date. Before then, the NDIA works with you to create a new plan. If your situation changes significantly earlier, you can ask for a plan reassessment sooner. If you disagree with an NDIA decision, you can ask for a review within 3 months of receiving it.

Plan reassessment

What is a plan reassessment?

A plan reassessment is when your plan needs to change significantly and the NDIA replaces it with a new one. This happens when your plan reassessment date is coming up, or when there’s a significant change in your life and your plan no longer meets your needs.

Getting ready

How to prepare.

  • Think about your goals – what’s changed, and what you want to work towards next
  • Write down what’s working well and what isn’t
  • Gather reports from your doctors, therapists and other professionals
  • Keep track of how you’ve used your funding
  • Ask your providers or support coordinator for any reports you need
  • Bring someone with you to the meeting if you’d like support

If you disagree

Asking for a review of a decision.

  • You can ask the NDIA to review most decisions within 3 months of receiving the decision
  • Someone who wasn’t involved in the original decision will look at it again
  • You can ask by filling in the review of a decision form, through the NDIS service hub, or by calling 1800 800 110
  • If you still disagree after the internal review, you can apply to the Administrative Review Tribunal within 28 days of the internal review decision

This page is general information only. NDIS rules can change, so always check the latest information at ndis.gov.au or call the NDIA on 1800 800 110.
